Sewage Sludge Treatment
& Remediation

01

Bioremediation

Microbial treatment of sewage sludge was not successfully carried out in the past due to lack of understanding in technology, variations in sewage sludge pollutants, and environmental conditions. Our product for sewage sludge treatment is effective in reducing various pollutants present in the sludge and at the same time effective in different environmental conditions.

Sewage sludge is a byproduct of waste water treatment. Generally, these sludges are rich in organic materials along with nitrogen and phosphorous. Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) are common pollutants which are widespread in soils, sediments and sewage sludges — these pollutants are generally considered toxic and some are carcinogenic.

02

Healthy Living

In Asia, 90% of child deaths are attributed to diarrheal disease due to contaminated water, lack of sanitation or inadequate hygiene. With an estimated 89% of extracted sludge being disposed of in open public spaces and rivers, the contamination of the shared environment has a detrimental effect on people's health.

At the end of ORP's treatment process, the contaminated sewage sludge becomes a useful nutrient source, rich in beneficial microbes — turning a hazardous waste product into a valuable resource.

The Process

How It Works

Step 01

Assessment

Analyze sludge composition and pollutant levels to custom-culture the right microbial formula.

Step 02

Application

Introduce the microbial solution directly into the sludge treatment process — no new infrastructure needed.

Step 03

Digestion

Microorganisms consume PAHs and other pollutants as a food source, breaking them down naturally over weeks.

Step 04

Biosolids

The treated sludge becomes nutrient-rich biosolids suitable for agricultural and land application.

Product Benefits

Treatment Advantages

  • Our microorganisms use pollutants as a source of food — they feed on it and break it down, gradually decontaminating the sludge
  • The end product can be used for agricultural purposes and is a good source of various nutrients and beneficial microbes
  • A natural and inexpensive way to repurpose sludge
  • Does not involve significant energy inputs or result in sterilization of the soil unlike other treatment systems

Environmental Impact

  • A healthy soil food web benefits gardeners, farmers and turf growers
  • Healthy soil, rich in organic matter, greatly reduces and can even prevent water pollution
  • Healthy soils retain and break down pesticides, heavy metals, and other pollutants
  • Lower carbon footprint than excavation and burning sludge
